Environmental Organizations
In recent years Mirele Goldsmith has expanded her practice to include environmental organizations, completing an evaluation project for Wave Hill's science summer camp for girls and facilitating a strategic planning process for the Environmental Education Advisory Council.
Goldsmith received her PhD in environmental psychology in 2006. She began her studies to gain insight into how and why people choose to take action about environmental problems. While in graduate school at the City University of New York Graduate Center, she focused on understanding citizen participation in urban environmental issues. Her dissertation research was about grassroots citizen participation in a controversy about the need for filtration for New York City's water supply. For 6 years Goldsmith organized an annual university-wide interdisciplinary colloquium on Nature, Ecology & Society.
